Pastor KELLY K. BURKHART

Kelly Burkhart was born and raised in Midland, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Baylor University and a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in theology from George W. Truett Theological Seminary in December 2004. While attending seminary, he was recognized and awarded as a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Leadership Scholar. His professional memberships include the Baptist General Convention of Texas’ Committee on Credentials; and current, the young leaders’ network for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, for which he has served as co-chair. As well, he was recently a participant in Convergence, a leadership training initiative of the CBF.

He was licensed to ministry by First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas and was ordained by Chalk Bluff Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. He has served as Director of Living Oak Ministries in Austin, Texas, Central Baptist Church in Daytona Beach, Florida as Associate Pastor to Youth and Families, and First Baptist Church in Riesel, Texas as pastor. He and his wife, Shelly, married in January 1999, and have two sons, Hudson and Aiden, and one daughter, Bryn Abigail. Shelly is the Director of the Covenant Sunday School Class for young adults, and is the Founder/Coordinator of the MOPS Ministry at Baptist Temple Church.

Kelly has served Baptist Temple Church in the Heights as Pastor since September 2004.
